With the warm weather we just had, it brought along thoughts of the farmers' market. There are only 38 days until opening day of the Lake Oswego Farmers' Market. Many of the wonderful vendors that have been staples of the market are certainly returning for another season. We also have a wonderful variety of new vendors that will be joining us this year. Just to name a few:
Petal Heads, whose primary focus is to offer unique plants, both annual and perennial to other plant enthusiasts. The owners not only pride themselves with the ability to provide unique plants, but on their eagerness to have their customers go home with plants they can connect with.
Pine Mountain Ranch which is located in picturesque Bend, Oregon. They offer quality, grass-fed Buffalo meat straight from their ranch. They don't use grain to "finish off" our Buffalo , which can remove some of natural flavor and increase the fat content of the meat. All of their Buffalo meat is high in nutritional value & low in fat and cholesterol, USDA inspected and certified, hormone and antibiotic free. In addition, Pine Mountain Ranch will be selling eggs, poultry, elk and yak.
Confectionery, which is a local Portland cupcake business, executed by hand with Portland ideals in mind. They are committed to sustainability in a number of ways including composting as many ingredients as possible, recycling, and reliability on local ingredients whenever possible and ingredients from other local companies that are committed to the environment. Look for unique cupcakes such as 'Heaven on Earth Cupcake' (chocolate covered red velvet cake, vanilla bean butter cream) or 'Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake' (vanilla strawberry cake, lemon butter cream). Enjoy!
Pacific Pie Company, which specializes in Australian savory pies featuring humanely raised meat and local, organic produce. Meat pies are the perfect on-the-go meal. You can eat them for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or whenever you get the craving for a delicious, hearty snack. They make all of their pies from scratch using only whole ingredients- nothing artificial or unpronounceable. They believe that eating good food is one of the true pleasures of life. But beyond serving up Aussie favorites, they are a values based business that works to promote sustainability, community, and the ethical stewardship of animals and the earth in everything that they do.
We are very excited for the 9th season of the market to begin. Check back for updates on which vendors and what produce will be at each market, information about weekly entertainment, chef demos, Kids Corner activities and special events at the market. I look forward to seeing all of you at the market this season.
See you at the market!
